The Rotunda Geology Group (RGG)

Welcome to both the Rotunda Geology Group, Scarborough, and our 2025 web site. We are a friendly organisation, supporting the Rotunda Museum, actively promoting the interests of Geology in North and East Yorkshire.

Latest News:

Our November talk will be on Thursday 6th November when we are fortunate to entertain a speaker from Glasgow who many of you will remember from her time as the curator at the Rotunda.  Dr Katie Strang (Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow) will tell us about: Agnes Neilson: Geology Pioneer.   As usual, the event will be held at the Conference Room, Woodend Creative Centre, Scarborough, at 7pm for 7:30pm.

The Conference Room at Woodend Gallery can be found using postcode YO11 2PW or the What3Words location: ///spider.tennis.roses.  Parking is available on The Crescent, free after 6pm. At Woodend, as you approach the building, aim for the modern extension, on the right. The entrance to the Conference Room, a glass fire door, also to the right, is at first hidden from view. The door is open from 7pm. Members free; Visitors £3.

And the final meeting before Christmas will be our Members Night, Thursday 4th December.  This is a great opportunity to hear about members’ experiences and current topics of interest.  If you wish, bring your own geology samples for discussion or identification.  Drinks are available and visitors are welcomed.
