Summer Field Trips and Fossil Handling

Thursday, 1st October 2026
For our first Rotunda Geology Group talk of Autumn 2026, in this our 20th anniversary year, we are delighted to announce the speaker will be Professor Uisdean Nicholson, Professor of Geoscience, Heriot-Watt University, who has kindly agreed to join us to talk about the latest research, using subsurface imaging and rock samples, on the incredible Silverpit Crater buried beneath the North Sea. The subject made the headlines last year.

The Conference Room at Woodend Gallery can be found using postcode YO11 2PW or the What3Words location: ///spider.tennis.roses.  Parking is available on The Crescent, free after 6pm. At Woodend, as you approach the building, aim for the modern extension, on the right. The entrance to the Conference Room, a glass fire door, also to the right, is at first hidden from view. The door is open from 7pm. Members free; Visitors £3.
